Kanye West Announces He's Running For President In 2020: Celebrities React

Well, he’s done it.

Kanye WestΒ officially announced that he will be running for president in the 2020 election.

On Saturday (July 4), the rapper used Independence Day to reveal the (un)surprising news on Twitter. β€œWe must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ!” the 43-year-oldΒ tweetedΒ last night with the hashtag β€œ#2020Vision,” which appears to be Ye’s slogan for his presidential campaign. (We’ll admit, it’s pretty catchy.)

Call the β€œBlack Skinhead” emcee crazy if you want, he has his supporters.

Among those who reacted to Ye’s presidential bid include wifeΒ Kim Kardashian, Tesla magnateΒ Elon Musk, and plenty of others β€” whose responses were… interesting, to say the least.

Kim simply shared an American Flag emoji in support of her husband, whereas Musk rooted for the rapper, writing, β€œYou have my full support!”

Others, likeΒ Tiffany HaddishΒ andΒ Paris Hilton, took Ye’s announcement in jest.

β€œWe must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I too am running for president of the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ! #2020VISION” wroteΒ Haddish, as Hilton retorted, β€œPARIS FOR PRESIDENT βœ¨πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‘ΈπŸΌβœ¨β€

The β€œStronger” musician’s presidential campaign announcement shouldn’t come as a surprise.

As some fans may recall, Ye actually used his appearance at the 2015 iHeartRadio Music Festival to allude to his bid while singing β€œOnly One,” in which he slipped in the lyrics, β€œYou’ll be the man you always knew you could be β€” 2020.”
